Saturday Blockbuster At Tullyroan Oval

Tullyroan Oval hosts a blockbuster evening of short oval motorsport this Saturday night, August 29th, at 6.30pm, featuring a packed five-formula programme headlined by the National Hot Rods.

National Hot Rods
All eyes will be on Portadown’s Glenn Bell as the newly crowned World Champion makes a triumphant return to his home raceway. Bell, who is also fresh from a major recent victory on the South African Tour, faces his final home outing before defending his British Championship title at Tullyroan in September. He will face fierce competition from former World Champion John Christie who showed some superb form to take the win at Aghadowey just last weekend. Former National Champion Ian Riordan, who travels from Cork on the back of a feature race win at the last Tullyroan meeting, is another big threat. Other major contenders expected to challenge at the front include Shane Murray, Jeff Riordan, Adam Heatrick, Nigel McCauley and Allen Cherry.

2.0 Hot Rods
The 2.0 Hot Rods will battle it out for one of the most coveted pieces of silverware on the local calendar, the Lee Cherry Memorial Trophy. Honouring the memory of a much-missed former racer, this is a race everyone wants to win. Portadown’s Jordan Rochford enters as the defending trophy holder and current Irish Champion on top form, but he faces a star-studded grid. Recent final winner Shane McMillan, flying World Champion Adam Hylands, and reigning British Champion Callum Doak are all primed to spoil Rochford's defence. There is some lucrative extra prize money on offer and some visiting talent will be joining the regular including Scarva’s William Buller, representing HRP in Scotland, who makes a welcome appearance on his local circuit. Sean Maher and Brendon O’Connell make the trip from Tipperary Raceway to compete.

Lightning Rods
For the Lightning Rods, this meeting marks the final opportunity for drivers to perfect their car setups ahead of September's World Cup at Tullyroan. It also serves as the final round of the Northern Ireland Points Championship, where Portadown's Nigel Jackson is the champion-elect, with his title defence now virtually secure. Fans can expect intense racing as Jackson tests himself against World Cup holder Mark Corry, European Champion Jake Morgan, Irish Champion Ross Houston and recent final winner Ian Hobson. With one eye on the World Cup, a large band of nine Tipperary Raceway challengers will be on the grid, led by Ronan O’Connor, Kieran Burke, Padraig palmer and Keith Kirwan.

1600 Rookie Bangers
Action and entertainment are guaranteed when the 1600 Rookie Bangers smash their way onto the track. Packed with spins, crashes, and unpredictable chaos, the class is currently being dominated by Josh Goligher, who is on a spectacular roll after winning the last two finals, including the Ulster Championship here a fortnight ago. Looking to halt his momentum amidst the madness will be Alan Haugh, Stephen Boyd, and Steven Bolton.

Junior Productions
Completing the busy schedule are the Junior Productions, featuring the stars of the future racing wheel-to-wheel in their Vauxhalls. The teenage drivers will be led by National and British Champion Leyton Hughes alongside Irish Open Champion Jack Morrison. With Casey Cherry, a resurgent Ryan Berry, Ryan Abernethy, and Noah Teggart all firmly in the mix, a thrilling night of racing is guaranteed from the very first green flag.
