Five Formula Saturday Night Racing At Tullyroan Oval

The all action 1400 Stock Cars and 2.0 Hot Rods formulas headline an attractive five formula programme at Tullyroan Oval on Saturday, May 2nd (6.30pm).

The 1400 Stock Car drivers will be racing for the Tullyroan Challenge Cup, won last year by Belfast driver Jon McQuillan. The formula has been on superb form so far in 2026, with the big bumpers put to good use to produce no end of excitement. World Champion Curtis Greer from Cullybackey is always the one the rest have to beat and he will surely go close once again, whilst Irish Champion William Taggart, Fionn Donnelly, Josh McKinstry and Graham Meek will be other contenders.

The 2.0 Hot Rods have fielded big numbers on each of their outings so far this term, which has in turn led to excellent racing on track. Scotch Street’s former World Champion Wayne Woolsey has marked his return to racing with two final wins on the trot at Tullyroan, including the Irish Masters title over the Easter weekend. Irish Champion Jordan Rochford from Portadown, Antrim’s British Champion Conor Hughes, Andy best and Adam Hylands are others set to challenge.

The Golden Helmet award for the Junior Productions sees National and British Champion Leyton Hughes aim to claim the trophy for the third year in succession, and given his recent form that is a very achievable feat. He has been nigh on unbeatable in feature races stretching right back to last season. Can he claim the hat-trick and get to keep the coveted trophy, kindly presented each year by the McKeown family? Casey Cherry, Ryan Berry and Jack Morrison will be chasing hard to grab the chequered flag. Frazer Anderson and Adam Donnelly from Scotland will add some international flavour to proceedings. It is also the final round of their 2025/26 NI Points Championship which will see Hughes retain the silver roof for another season.

The young Ninja Karts stars of tomorrow will race in the Moffett Family Trophy, kindly presented by a family who have supported local stock car racing for many years. A number of cross channel visitors will be in town for that one, including the defending champion and recently crowned European Champion George White. Henry Hunn, Jayden Jeffrey, Alfie McLeod and Quinnleigh Felton are other cross channel chargers, whilst Richhill’s Jack Murphy recently added the Southern Irish Open title to his Irish and NI Points Championship titles.

The Lightning Rods complete the programme, headed by the new European Champion Jake Morgan after his recent victory down at Tipperary Raceway. Conor Doherty claimed a heat and final double last time out and should run well again, but there will be stiff opposition from Portadown duo Mark Corry and Nigel Jackson to name a few.
