Hot Rod Heaven At Tullyroan Oval |
 |
It's Hot Rod Heaven at Tullyroan Oval this Saturday night, October 4th, when a packed programme of non-contact championship racing is set to thrill the local fans.
Topping the bill are the National Hot Rods, who race in Round 5 of World Series NI as well as the annual Ulster Championship. The Ulster Championship will be lined up in order of the fastest laps from the previous three World Series races, with the added twist that the final winner will draw to see if the fastest man starts at the front or the rear of the grid. The race will then have a competition caution called with 5 laps to go, leading to a double file restart on the dash to the chequered flag.
Shane Murray in his Ginetta is the defending Ulster Champion and will harbour hopes of retaining his crown, whilst many eyes will be on Glenn Bell who took a deserved final win last weekend and also the British title at Tullyroan just a fortnight ago. His Ginetta has looked ridiculously quick lately, but the Riordan brothers, Ian and jeff, Derek Martin and John Christie will be others chasing the win.
It's also the start of Irish Championshipseason, with green roof deciders in both the Lightning Rods and Junior Productions. Nigel Jackson starts on pole position in the Lightning Rods as he aims for yet another triumph in the event, with defending champion Ross Houston alongside ahead of Stuart Agnew and gold top Mark Corry. It promises to be an exciting encounter for the BMW's.
In the Junior Productions, Leyton Hughes is the polesitter and he will be aiming to continue his amazing run of winning form. Ryan Berry sits alongside him on the front row ahead of Jack Morrison and Casey Cherry in the chase for the title and the Derek McMillan Perpetual Trophy. The Junior Productions have served up some excellent racing in 2025 and this one should be another cracker.
The Stock Rods return to Tullyroan two weeks on from an outstanding World Championship weekend. Star drivers Siobhan Martin, Stevie McNiece, Jonny Cardwell and Mark Crawford are sure to be right in the mix again, alongside NI Points Champ Sam McNeice who will be hoping to put his mechanical issues in the World Final behind him. In such a competitive field the star drivers can sometimes struggle to make an impact, so watch out for rapid blue graders Harry Minish, Sam Wilson and Darragh O'Shea, the latter of whom caused quite a sensation when qualifying on pole for the World.
Completing the line up are the 2.0 Hot Rods, and whilst we are hoping for big numbers once again after breaking the 20 car barrier last week, we will be also be hoping for a much more disciplined outing this time around. Jordan Rochford was on top form last Sunday to lift the Tullyroan Challenge Cup, whilst British Champion Conor Hughes, Andy Best, James McKinney, Aaron Stewart and Jake Devlin will be aiming for glory.
The first race leaves the grid at 6.30pm.
