Irish Championship Double Header This Weekend
Oval racing fans are in for a treat this weekend with Irish Championship race action being staged at both Aghadowey Oval (Friday November 26th, 7.15pm), and then Tullyroan Oval (Saturday November 27th, 6pm). Friday’s Aghadowey Oval meeting is a fixture postponed two weeks ago and will see no less than four Irish titles on the line!

The Superstox have been a huge success story on the Ulster ovals in 2021, fielding excellent grids and producing some spectacular racing. Former World Champion Lee Davison from Portadown occupies pole position alongside Jamie McCann for their Irish Championship encounter, with defending champion Kyle Beattie and Steven Haugh on row two. The bumpers are set to be put to good use on the opening laps and a fantastic contest is guaranteed.

Fresh from his recent successful World Championship defence, Portadown’s Lightning Rods supremo Nigel Jackson will also defend his Irish title starting from pole position. Nigel will be surrounded on the grid by some impressive talent, with British Champion Ricky Shaw alongside whilst European Champion Aaron Stewart and Mark McCambridge occupy row two.

The 1300 Stock Cars will most certainly exchange blows as they chase the green roof of Irish Champion, with Chris Hamill, Jon McQuillan, Matthew Milliken and Jonathan Brown all set to chase the coveted Irish title. Anything can happen in 1300 Stock Car racing, and the spectacular action could well see a driver from down the grid push and shove his way through into contention.

The final Irish Championship showdown at Aghadowey is for the budget racers in the Thunder Rods, where Ballymena racer James Goldie will defend his title from the outside of the front row with Coleraine’s Samuel Murphy on pole position. Garvagh’s Dean Catherwood, Cullybackey’s Davy Wilson and Rasharkin star Jason Darragh are set to be others chasing the glory

Support action at Aghadowey comes from the Stock Rods, before the action moves to Tullyroan Oval near Dungannon on Saturday night at 6pm.

Topping the bill there will be the Irish Championship for the awesome Unlimited National Bangers, where it will be no holds barred between top runners including Mike Flaherty, Leonard Dunn and Steven Bolton to land the big prize. Their night will of finish with the Stephen Bannon Memorial Destruction Derby where the last car moving wins!

The Junior Productions Irish Championship should be a hard-fought affair between Jack Morrow, Callum Magill and Sam Percy to name three, whilst a whole host of Ninja Kart stars from right across the UK will come to the grid for their Champion of Champions event. With visitor numbers into double figures the racing should be spectacular to say the least. The night will kick off with the annual Individual Achievement Award for the Ninjas which will be fought out between those who have yet to win a race in 2021.

The Superstox Tullyroan Challenge Cup will see Scottish Champion Aaron Riddell and England's Declan Salmon join the locals, whilst the 2.0 Hot Rods complete what will be two exciting days of racing to finish the local season.
