The Future of Superstox
Please see below a news item from Deane Wood regarding upcoming rule changes for Superstox:

I have been looking at the Superstox for the last couple of years and feel that they are following the same pattern as the BriSCA F2’s have done and it has not worked for the F2’s and they were a lot bigger than what Superstox are. Therefore, I feel that rule changes have got to come in to start trying to even the cars up. I sit and watch the races and if the conditions and tracks are good the top drives can be in the lead within eleven laps. This is not good for spectators and is not good for lower grade drivers without big budgets.

The first change will be with brakes. You will be allowed a maximum of a 240mm size disc. There will be no machining or grinding of callipers or wheels. Reason, if one of these broke who would be responsible for it? The callipers must be symmetrical from side to side on the same axle and with the same size piston. Other than as stated here the callipers will stay the same as per section 14.1 of the 2018 Superstox Rules & Regulations. We are going to a single brake cylinder. This will work front and back brakes and you are only allowed one single reducer which will be in the line to the back brakes. Brake pads will remain free for next season and I have already had talks with Mintex who are quite willing to make the brake pads and police it for the 2020 season if I feel we need to go further with brakes.

Anti-roll bars from next season will be banned. No torsions arms or any connecting arms from one side to the other on the suspension. In-board suspension will be symmetrical from side to side and not adjustable rockers. The rocker itself will not be adjustable to alter the ratio.

Shock Absorbers from 2020 will be going onto controlled shock absorbers. More details will follow on this. Shock absorbers from 2019, you will not be allowed to change your shock absorbers one your car has been safety checked. Shock absorbers cannot be changed unless damaged. You must get a scrutineer to confirm this. This is to stop people from changing shocker absorbers from wet to dry now we have banned the anti-roll bar. If you are caught changing a shock absorber without permission this will be classed as cheating and therefore you will receive a ban.

If this does not work, then for 2020 I will look into link arm lengths and putting everyone onto the same back suspension.

I know this is going to upset some of the top drivers, but I am sorry I have done a lot of investigating in the last six months and spoken to a lot of drivers who have stopped racing and they feel that the sport in general is getting too complicated and too dear. Therefore, I am trying to keep it inline of not just money but being fun as well. Please do not go on social media and start criticising because this is not good for our sport or the formula. This is not just things I have done on my own, I have spoken to a lot of different people and car builders as well and I have to do what I think is right for the formula to create closer and more exciting racing.
